Sheikh Lethome is the Secretary General of the Centre for Sustainable Conflict Resolution and a religious advisor to the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims. As a scholar of Islamic law, Sheikh Lethome consulted for the Population Council in the debate around Islam and harmful cultural practices and co-authored a tool kit for anti-female genital mutilation/ cutting (FGM/C ) campaigners in the Horn of Africa titled Delinking FGM from Islam. He also guided UNFPA Kenya in the development of a Shariah-compliant guide on Islam and child spacing.
Sheikh Lethome is also involved in developing programs that use religion to prevent radicalization and address violent extremism. His programs have been used to train religious leaders, community anti-violent extremism champions, youth, and other stakeholders. Additionally, he is a champion for peaceful co-existence across intra-/interfaith, and intra-/inter-ethnic communities and has been a member of the global Advisory Group of Arigatou International since 2018.
